If you are in the industry, you are already developing RSI
(not to mention lack of brain activity which may result in brain death).
Repetitive Stress Injuries are injuries that are caused by repetitive
movements (e.g. keyboarding and using the mouse without taking breaks) and
also by maintaining static positions for long periods of time (e.g. holding
your body in a typing position without resting intermittently). Common
symptoms for these injuries include, but are not limited to:
- tingling in the fingers
- soreness in the forearms, neck, shoulders, fingers, or hands
- fatigue in the forearms, fingers, or hands
- achiness in the neck, wrists, fingers, or hands
- pain in the back, shoulders, neck, wrists, fingers, or hands
These symptoms occur when your body is not able to repair itself at the same
rate or faster than the rate that you are damaging your muscles.
To prevent this, you need to either:
- lower the damage rate or
- increase the repair rate
