David Wong Louie
was born in Rockville Center, New York, in 1954. He attended Vassar
College and the University of Iowa, and has received fellowships
from the National Endowment for the Arts, the California Arts
Council, the McDowell Colony, and Yaddo. His work has appeared in
numerous literary magazines, as well as in The Best American
Short Stories 1989 and The Big Aiiieeeee!: An Anthology of
Chinese American and japanese American Literature. Louie
won both the 1991 Los Angeles Times Art Seidenbaum Award for
First Fiction and the Ploughshares John C. Zacharis First
Book Award for Pangs of Love. He is currently at work on a
novel.
