European Policy Counsel - Europe
Position available in Europe. The specific location
is contingent on applicant's qualifications.
The European Policy Counsel will handle public policy issues and government
affairs for Google across Europe, including the institutions of the European
Union and its member states. Key issues will include those relating to
data protection/privacy, content regulation advertising, technology,
intellectual property and industry self-regulation and best practices.
The European Policy Counsel will work to ensure that Google's public
policy positions and related activities in Europe reflect the goals and
values of the company.
The position requires not only first-rate legal, analytical, communications,
diplomatic and government-relations skills, but the ability to integrate
public policy with business strategy and corporate development.
The ideal candidate will have direct experience working with the institutions
of the European Union and with one or more member states, will be proficient
in multiple European languages, and will have solid familiarity with
Internet technologies and the policy environments that surround them.
Qualification as a lawyer is expected, but Google is willing to consider
truly outstanding public policy professionals who are not lawyers.
Responsibilities include:
- Continuous monitoring of current and forthcoming policy issues and
initiatives of relevance to Google.
- Generating new policy frameworks and positions for review by Google's
policy and management teams.
- Developing and implementing the company's policies.
- Establishing and implementing strategies to communicate policies
to key European constituencies, including:
- Google users
- Google partners and customers
- Government officials
- Policy advocates and the legal community
- Industry organizations and leaders
- Treaty organizations
- International standards bodies

Patent Counsel
Position available in Mountain View, CA.
Want to be part of a collegial legal group in a company that's not only

In this role, you will spend a majority of your time on internal portfolio

Intellectual Property Counsel

Google is looking for an attorney to assist with intellectual property
issues.
This position will be involved with a wide range of intellectual property
issues. The substantive areas include copyright, framing, linking (including
deep-linking), defamation, etc. And the legal work for these substantive areas
ranges from advice to implementation to litigation support. Indeed, the only
intellectual property matters with which this position will not be deeply
involved are matters that are strictly patent or trademark in nature, which
are handled by other existing Google lawyers.

Google's legal team is growing again! Google is looking for an experienced
attorney to focus on commercial and sales transactions. The Counsel's primary
responsibilities will include negotiating, drafting, and analyzing a wide
variety of licensing, sales, strategic alliance, and development agreements.
Work independently but collaboratively in a collegial team environment within
a fast-paced legal department.
Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to legal requests from business
development/licensing, advertising sales, marketing, and other business
clients.
- Advise sales professionals and management, as well as finance and
other company departments on legal issues and risks, complex deal structures,

and negotiation strategy.
- Negotiate agreements that comply with company policies and risk

Commercial Litigation
Counsel
Position available in Mountain View, CA.
Google is looking for an experienced attorney to assist
with general litigation matters. This position will be involved with
any potential or actual third-party dispute. Working closely with our
litigation team, a significant part of your time will be spent developing
the infrastructure required to avoid disputes in the first instance.
If a potential dispute arises, you will be responsible for determining
a strategy for resolving it. And to the extent any of these disputes
develop into actual lawsuits, you will also be responsible for working
with outside counsel to manage those lawsuits.
In this role, you will have significant interaction with others at Google.
For example, you will work closely with others in the legal group who
have substantive knowledge in areas that are relevant to particular disputes.
In addition, you will interact with product management, engineering,
corporate communications, human resources, sales, etc. There is almost
no business area with whom you will not interact.
As a dynamic and global company, Google faces many novel legal issues.
This position is thus particularly well-suited to an individual who enjoys
